AliExpress: Shipment Cancelled

Frequent Aliexpress buyers, we all have been there: the days go by, you wait for a package, track it at last, but discover that shipment got cancelled. What does it mean? It is time to find out.

What does Shipment Cancelled mean?

This shipping status means that your package did not reach AliExpress Shipment Center; as a result, Aliexpress-Cainiao could not hand it over to the carrier.

Once you go to a tracking page, you may see the following:

Sep 27, 2019 Logistics order has been created
the seller assigns a tracking number to the order
Sep 27, 2019 Waiting for pick up
the staff at Aliexpress Shipment Center waits for the package so as to ship it
Oct 12, 2019 Shipment cancelled
AliExpress cancels the shipment

Why was my shipment cancelled?

There are several reasons:

  • the selected product was out of stock
  • the item is prohibited for shipping
  • the seller didn't send your package in time

The thing is, shipment gets cancelled every time a parcel does not make it to the warehouse within a certain period. Such period differs for each shipping option and can take up to 14 days.

At what point can you expect Shipment Cancelled status?

More often than not, shipment gets cancelled if the order is stuck on "Waiting for pick up " for 8-14 days. 1-2 statuses generally precede "Shipment cancelled" (see examples below).

  • Sep.23, 2019 Shipment cancelled

  • Sep. 18, 2019 Shipment information received
  • Sep. 27, 2019 Shipment cancelled

What to do if the shipment is cancelled on AliExpress?

Filing a dispute is the right thing to do in this event.

You can file a dispute once you realize that shipping information is not available. Take a screenshot of Postal Ninja page with the tracking information and attach this image to the complaint form.

But before that, check your inbox on AliExpress. The following situation is quite common:

I tried to track my package and got "Shipment cancelled" in the results. I was about to open a dispute but changed my mind once I saw a message in my inbox, stating that there was a new shipping id assigned to it: LP00xxxxxxxCN. I then inserted the new tracking code - now everything is fine, seems that I will receive the packet soon.

Some sellers might even ask you to initiate the dispute when they realize they cannot send the order. In other cases, they assign a different tracking number and promise to send the item shortly.

If the seller hesitates with the dispute, ask him to provide documentary evidence of the shipment.

Typically, AliExpress Case Management Team resolves the dispute in the buyer's favor.
