Singapore Post is the Singapore's national postal operator, providing shipping services both domestically and internationally. In addition to standard deliveries, it also handles package deliveries. As part of the EMS cooperative, Singapore Post is an official operator for the delivery of EMS shipments.

There are two types of general prohibitions and restrictions that are typical of all postal services: weight/measurement and content. All necessary information can be found on the official SingPost website. The permitted types and possible restrictions for the shipment of goods also depend on the country of destination.

Which tracking numbers does Singapore Post use?

Postal shipments are grouped into two categories, and the main classification criterion is weight: small parcels are up to 2 kg; shipments are over 2 kg. Small parcels up to 2 kg may not be traceable, but Singapore Post always registers EMS shipments and express deliveries and assigns them a tracking number.

The international postal identifier consists of an alphanumeric sequence:

  • RT123456785SG: small package from Singapore;

  • CA123456785SG: shipment from Singapore;

  • EE123456785SG: express shipment from Singapore.

According to the international format of the Universal Postal Union, the structure of the tracking number has a specific meaning for each letter and digit:

  • First letter R/C/E: indicates the type of shipment. A SingPost tracking number that starts with the letter R (Registered) designates registered small packages;

  • 123456785: this numerical sequence provides a uniqueness;

  • SG: refers to the country of the originating postal service.

Tracking of SingPost postal packages

The longest pause in tracking shipments from Singapore occurs between export and import. Without worrying, you can get an idea of where your package is at a certain point by tracking the SingPost shipment on the Postal Ninja website with translation of all tracking statuses.

The sender can obtain the tracking number for a SingPost shipment by registering it at the post office. You can also register a shipment remotely. Remember, however, that electronic registration does not guarantee that the sender has actually sent the item. In the former case, the physical delivery of the item is immediate, so the tracking information is very quickly added into the tracking system and the recipient can immediately verify the start of the international postal shipment.
